Permanent, by IMEI, with nothing to ship. If AT&T already turned your request down, below is the service that matches your exact case.
AT&T unlocks it free when your device meets these six requirements. If it does, you don't need us — do it on their site and keep your money.
Any of them failing? Then AT&T says no — and that "no" has a specific reason. Each reason has its own service.
Check the IMEI first: the carrier answers with the exact reason, and that wording tells you which one to order. The check is free.
Unlocks the device if it is in good standing, and if not, tells you exactly why: the carrier replies with the reason. You always get an answer.
$3 · 1-60 Minutes
If the device has a balance owed, the carrier replies "Unpaid" or "Past Due" instead of unlocking it. That is what tells you which service you need: look for "Past Due" or "Unpaid Payments" in this same list and order that one. The carrier lookup is charged either way, because the answer is the diagnosis.
No refund: the carrier doesn't give this fee back to us.

They are two different carriers with two different locks, even though the brand name is the same. Everything on this page is for devices locked by AT&T in the United States. If your iPhone is from AT&T Mexico (Iusacell, Nextel or Unefon), check the IMEI and write to us: it is a different service.
Won't AT&T unlock it for free?
If your device meets the six requirements above, AT&T unlocks it for free and you should ask them. We're for the cases where AT&T says no: a past-due balance, someone else's account, a device their database can't find, a frozen account.
How do I know which service I need?
Check the IMEI first. The carrier answers with the exact reason for the lock — "Past Due", "Unpaid", "Active on another account" — and that wording tells you which service to order. The basic check is free.
Does unlocking clear what I owe?
No. The device gets unlocked, but the balance stays owed. They are two separate things and it is worth knowing before you pay.
Is it permanent, or does it lock again?
It is permanent. It is recorded in the carrier database, so it survives iOS updates and SIM changes.
Do I have to ship the phone?
No. Everything is done by IMEI, remotely. You ship nothing, install nothing, and we never need your Apple ID.
What if the device is reported stolen?
We won't touch it, under any circumstances. A device flagged lost or stolen doesn't belong here — not even when the flag is a carrier mistake. Unpaid balances and contracts are a different matter: there is a service for those, because whoever owes the installments owns the phone.
